John J. Pacifico
President and Chief Executive OfficerMr. Pacifico led the formation of Abyrx®, Inc. and serves as the Company's founding President and Chief Executive Officer. Previously, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of ORTHOCON®, Inc., a biosurgical products company he helped launch in 2006 as a member of its founding investment team.
Mr. Pacifico brings to Abyrx over 20 years of experience leading and building venture-backed healthcare companies. He gained this experience as a member of the healthcare venture capital investment team at Canaan Partners where he is currently a General Partner.
In addition to his roles at Abyrx and Canaan, Mr. Pacifico is the founder and chairman of the board at Kairuku, Inc., a SaaS solution for medical product distributors engaging with hospitals and surgery centers. He also serves on the boards of directors at Axcelius, a pharmaceutical company incubator, Transposon Therapeutics, a pharmaceutical company focused on treating neurodegenerative diseases, Oncolinea Pharmaceuticals, a pharmaceutical company focused on treating cancers, and Aceiss, Inc., a cybersecurity software company focused on identity governance and administration.
Mr. Pacifico is a named inventor on over twenty issued and pending patents. He earned an MBA from Columbia University and a BS from Fairfield University where he was a member of the varsity baseball team. Following his graduation from Columbia Business School, Mr. Pacifico completed two years of entrepreneurial and venture capital studies in the Kauffman Fellows Program and, in 2009, was honored by his acceptance into the Kauffman Fellows Society.
